Holiday Inn Olathe Action Alert

Please take a moment to support the Alternative Hedonistic Society, of Kansas City, MO. Their AHS Obsessive Fetish Ball, which did not include nudity or sexual activities, was cancelled at the last moment by the Holiday Inn Olathe when a reporter from FOX News was tipped off and contacted the Holiday Inn. The AHS was completely open about the nature of the event with both the police and the Holiday Inn prior to signing a contract, but the management responded to the reporter's inquiry by canceling the event.

AHS is still trying to resolve this situation with the Holiday Inn Olathe and needs your help.

Dear Mr. Olson,

We would like to express our serious concerns regarding your cancellation of the AHS Obsessive Fetish Ball one day before the event was to take place on August 13, 2004.

The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom is a national organization committed to creating a political, legal, and social environment in the United States that advances equal rights of consenting adults who practice forms of alternative sexual expression. NCSF is primarily focused on the rights of consenting adults in the SM-leather-fetish, swing, and polyamory communities, who often face discrimination because of their sexual expression. NCSF directly represents tens of
thousands of consenting adults across the US, and supports the millions of adults who do alternative sexual expression. In the view of the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) your cancellation is based on a complete misunderstanding of the nature of this charitable, social event in which no nudity or sexual activities were scheduled to take place. The event organizers had ongoing discussions with the Olathe Police to ensure their complete compliance with city ordinances, and the organizers welcomed the
police in walking through the event at any time.

In fact, it appears the sole reason your management canceled this contract was because a reporter from the socially conservative FOX News contacted you regarding
the event. Perhaps you are not aware that religious political extremist groups regularly attack events held by the alternative sexuality communities. These groups often alert the media to pressure venues into refusing to hold adult events. This tactic is both discriminatory and reprehensible. NCSF expects businesses to abide by the terms of their lawful contracts and refuse to be manipulated in this manner.

Over 250 major events are produced by the SM-leather-fetish, swing and polyamory communities every year in hotels and public venues. In many cases, hundreds of thousands of dollars of revenue are generated for the host venue and localcommunity. Your proactive response to resolving this issue of discrimination will go far in ensuring that our constituents continue to do business with Holiday Inn.

2004 Presidential Election

With the American Presidential Elections coming fast its time to reflect and look at what you want from a President, there are many major issues that continue to be debated and are not only important for the USA but the world. However there are also issues relating to your rights, privacy and sexual preferences that you should ask yourself before voting, these matters are often forgotten in the debate. I don’t think that its unreasonable for us to ask questions on which candidate suites your lifestyle or at best would not support any governmental intrusion and or help stop other government departments from interfering with your pursuit of happiness.

Its not our place to support either candidate, however we can suggest that you look at this issue when deciding who to vote for and use your best judgment and use that valuable vote wisely. Americans get a chance once every 4 years to make a change or redirect their President back on track to what the people of the USA want as only the fear of losing an election can really do.

Perhaps this might entice you to register to vote and stand up for your rights, personally I don’t think it’s a bad thing for and perhaps about time that politicians start to realize that there are millions of voters in America that are Alternative Lifestylers; each with a vote in every election. Even they know that it’s a secret ballet vote, anonymous to others but can easily change the out come of an election and change a government or even a President..!!!

HRC SHARPLY CONDEMNS PRESIDENT BUSH’S ENDORSEMENT OF CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT DISCRIMINATING AGAINST AMERICAN FAMILIES

President Has Broken Promise of Being a Uniter, Says HRC
WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign today sharply condemned President Bush for endorsing a discriminatory amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would ban marriage rights for same-sex couples.

"To use the Constitution to discriminate against our families is un-American, shameful and divisive," said HRC President Cheryl Jacques. "Constitutional amendments have historically served to expand liberty and equality – such as giving women the right to vote. This amendment would be the first to reinstate discrimination in our Constitution. There is no doubt in my mind that the American people will see this as an ugly and discriminatory game of politics. Americans remember the president’s promise to be a uniter, not a divider. Today, the president has broken that promise."

According to an ABCNEWS/Washington Post survey in January, a solid majority oppose an amendment barring marriage equality – 58 percent think we should not amend the Constitution but instead let each state should make its own laws on the issue. Also, key voting blocs – 59 percent of women, 52 percent of Republicans, 55 percent of those in the South and 60 percent of independents – all say that this should be a state issue.

"The President explained that if the existing Defense of Marriage Act were to be found constitutional, it would still allow a state to enact its own marriage laws. The president wants to prevent states from making their own policy – this is hardly conservative and, in fact, quite radical," added Jacques.

"The President said he wanted to proceed with kindness, good will and decency – make no mistake, that is not possible. It is neither kind nor decent to discriminate against Americans and deny them critical rights," said Jacques. "Instead of pulling the country together to fight terrorism and meet our common challenges, the President is now working to divide the country with a long and bitter political fight over the Constitution."

"The President keeps talking about protecting minority rights in Iraq. What about those of us in his own country?" asked Jacques. "With his approval ratings at an all-time low, this ploy is sure to backfire against the President."
On the President’s claims that he’s "protecting" marriage, Jacques added, "The only marriages under attack are those of same-sex couples whom the President either wants to prevent from marrying or forcibly divorce by nullifying existing marriages."

The only such proposal currently before Congress (H.J. Res. 56; S.J. Res. 26) would not only deny marriage to same-sex couples but could also deny any state legislature or electorate from ever voting to pass their own state’s domestic partnership, civil union or marriage laws. Under the Federal Marriage Amendment, courts could be barred from enforcing the legal protections that a legislature provides through civil union or domestic partnership laws.

The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national lesbian and gay political organization with members throughout the country. It effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support and educates the public to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.

There is a lot of love and wonderful people in our communities that share and help others in the vanilla world every day. We owe it to them and ourselves to FIGHT HATE and like any evil it only grows when god people like ourselves are silent. Don’t let this evil grow, fight it with your hearts and deeds, the evil of hate is just that EVIL.
